Meet Ash Mac

Whether you know me in person, been following online for a while, or just so happened to accidentally have found me while stumbling around social media at 3 am, I wanted to take a moment and tell you a little more about me. My name is Ashley, but everyone calls me Ash Mac. I'm a professional makeup artist for the last 10 years (tho currently taking a break from it), a single mom, psychic intuitive coach, community leader, and so much more.

No, I didn't choose that nickname because of MAC makeup. My last name is an old Scotch- Irish "Mc" name, and so it’s more to separate me from all the other Ashley's out there, and it just so happens that I'm a makeup artist too. That nickname actually came about during my senior year in high school, many moons ago, but it never really stuck until a few years later. Now, more people know me by my nick name than my real name, and I always joke that the only people that call me Ashley is the government and my one friend that refuses to call me anything else.

Born and raised in East Tennessee- Knoxville and the surrounding area- I'm a quirky neurodivergent chick that is as sweet as your grandmama's southern sweet tea, but with some sass and a whole lotta ass. I'm a single mom raising a beautiful boy. He's funny, smart, and compassionate and is basically the mini boy version of me. HA! Which means I'm in trouble.

I'm a jack of all trades, and with lots of weird happenings in my history, I love all things related to spirituality, mystics, and the metaphysical/paranormal. I love a good ghost story, astrology and crystals, makeup and so much more. And after 10 years of being on my own personal growth journey with my therapist, I've come to love the journey and helping others on their journey too.

I never imagined being where I am today as an accomplished makeup artist, community leader, or even as a psychic. I mean, not in the sense of it becoming reality where I get paid for it. I wanted to be a lawyer when I was a kid. (Such a capricorn answer, right?)

Makeup artistry kind of fell into my lap on a random week night when a friend reached out for help on a local film festival. That was in 2012, and took me out of a dark depression after the sudden loss of my closest confidant, my grandmother. My entire life and career changed by saying yes to that opportunity, and since has snowballed into what it is today.

Then in 2018, I had joined a social media marketing class, and as I was learning about what it means to market social media, I was also doing some soul searching around who I am, what my interests are, and whether or not I was being authentic, vulnerable, and showing up as me. I started a new journey to find like-minded friends that were into the same "weird" stuff I liked- astrology, tarot, ghost stories- (all things that some of my friends at the time didn't seem too keen on) and create a community.

Just weeks of starting that journey, I had a paranormal experience that skyrocketed my intuition in a way that allowed me to hone in and share it with others. (Think some "Long Island Medium" shit, cause that was just wild) Because before that, I didn't know that my "being right about stuff all the time" was actually my intuition that I was always 2nd guessing. You can read more about that story here.

Ever since, I've realized that I have a passion for uplifting, inspiring, and empowering others. Which became the mission statement for The Phat Life. To uplift and inspire others through self-love, body positivity, personal growth and the metaphysical. By being open about my spirituality and experiences, it has allowed me to connect with amazing individuals to help provide guidance and clarity while also sharing common interests with like minded people... Which has been amazing because we all know it sucks to feel alone in the world.

There's so much more but all of that basically means I’m really just a huge dork loving life and living it one day at a time. I may not always know what I'm doing, but I try to keep an attitude of gratitude and lighthearted look on life, and I just really want to live my life and share it in an authentic and uplifting way. I'm so thankful I'm able to take the talent I've been given and share it when I can, and if you ever see me out, please don’t hesitate to say hi! I love seeing members of the community, I've worked so hard to build this passion of mine into a growing community and business, and it always make my day to see community members.

As a deeply intuitive person, I've been able to touch hundreds of lives as I've helped to guide others on their spiritual journeys. A session with me will bring a compassionate and fun light into your life that will allow you to recognize opportunities to build confidence for self growth and awareness.
